Google constantly updates its ranking algorithms, making it important to focus on what truly works rather than chasing shortcuts.

In this article, we’ll bust some common SEO myths and explain what actually helps

Common SEO Myths & The Truth Behind ThemMyth 1: More Keywords Help Rank Higher<Truth: Overloading content with keywords, also known as keyword stuffing, does not improve rankings. In fact, Google penalizes sites that overuse keywords unnaturally. Instead, focus on using relevant keywords naturally within high-quality content. The goal is to write for humans, not search engines.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does keyword density still matter?

Not the way it used to. Modern Google does not count keyword density mechanically; it understands meaning. Pages stuffed with keywords actually rank worse than naturally-written pages that cover the topic comprehensively.

Are meta keywords still useful?

No. Google has not used the meta keywords tag for ranking in over a decade. Filling it in does nothing. Title tags, headings, and body content matter; the keywords meta tag does not.

Does Domain Authority (DA) affect Google rankings?

No — DA is a Moz score, not a Google ranking factor. Google has stated this publicly. What Google does care about is the quality and relevance of sites linking to you, which is what DA estimates. We treat DA as a progress gauge, not a target.

Do I need to submit my site to Google?

Not for indexing. Google discovers sites through links. Submitting a sitemap in Search Console helps Google crawl it more efficiently but is not required. Most pages get indexed within a few days of being linked to.

Will buying backlinks improve my rankings?

In the short term sometimes, but it eventually triggers Google penalties. Cheap purchased links from PBNs and link farms are the most common cause of ranking drops on otherwise-good sites. Editorial earned links compound; bought links eventually cost you more than they earned.

Is duplicate content always penalized?

No, but it is rarely rewarded. Google handles most duplicate content quietly by picking one canonical version. Penalties apply mainly to manipulation — scraped content, doorway pages, large-scale duplication. Legitimate similar content (product descriptions, brief duplication) is fine.

Does Google rank based on number of pages?

No. Quality beats quantity. Adding thin pages to look bigger usually drops rankings. Focused sites with deep useful content consistently outrank bloated sites with mostly mediocre pages.

What actually works for SEO in 2026?

Content quality and depth, technical health (Core Web Vitals, schema, mobile), editorial backlinks, brand mentions, and increasingly AI-search-citable structure. Our search-engine-optimization and seo-plans pages cover the modern SEO stack.
